A grizzly bear attacked and killed a hunter in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, approximately 250 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska. The hunter and a friend were on a 10-day moose hunt. The friend did not suffer any injuries.
Covering more than 13.2 million acres, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is America’s largest national park. Despite its rugged and remote location, this attack is the first fatal mauling since the establishment of the park in 1980.
