Grizzly bears attacked two different men in two different countries over a three-day span.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police report that a grizzly attacked a man on May 19, 2024, who was hunting black bears in the southeast corner of British Columbia. He defended himself with a firearm, causing the bear to run off, but he suffered several injuries including broken bones and lacerations. The incident happened about a three-hour drive south of Calgary.
Three days later, in Grand Teton National Park, one of two grizzlies that were together seriously injured a man visiting from Massachusetts. Like the Canadian incident, an emergency response team provided care before airlifting him to an area hospital.
