The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources announced its Virginia Elk Experience Sweepstakes generated $83,490 for conservation. That total marks a $5,000 increase to benefit elk and other wildlife from 2023.
Susan Bodin won the first prize package with Chad Rigney the second package.
Each of the prize packages includes accommodations, a guided elk tour and subscriptions to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Bugle magazine, among other things.
Dating back to 1993, RMEF and its partners completed 87 conservation and hunting heritage outreach projects in Virginia, including the successful restoration of elk, with a combined value of more than $2.4 million. These projects conserved or enhanced 7,616 acres of habitat and opened or improved public access to 576 acres.
