The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation strongly opposes an initiative to appear on Colorado’s November ballot that would ban mountain lion and bobcat hunting. The ballot box biology effort goes against both proven, scientific wildlife management and RMEF’s mission.
Important points:
- Colorado is home to the largest elk herd in North America & is a popular state for resident and nonresident hunters alike
- Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management & Colorado’s RMEF members have been fighting this effort
- Colorado’s professional wildlife managers declare the mountain lion population is “strong, abundant and not biologically threatened”
- Anti-hunting extremists aim to raise $3 million to support the initiative
RMEF encourages its members, both in Colorado and across the country, to contribute directly to the Wildlife Deserve Better campaign. So far, RMEF has invested $200,000 in support of the campaign.
