On October 30, 2020, President Trump signed America’s Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Act into law. Among other things, it establishes a U.S. Fish and Wildlife task force to combat chronic wasting disease. ACE also reauthorizes the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and the National Fish Habitat Partnership for five years.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation previously signed on to a letter with more than 50 conservation and outdoor organizations expressing strong support for both ACE and the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
Back in August, the GAOA became law that, among other things, permanently and fully funded the Land and Water Conservation Fund. RMEF played an intimate role in helping push that conservation legislation across the finish line.
Passing ACE and the GAOA, in addition to several other key pieces of legislation, solidifies the 116th Congress as one of the most successful conservation-oriented sessions in recent history.
