A Utah Division of Wildlife Resources biologist working in a remote location tracking a much smaller species instead learned first-hand just how determined a bull elk can be during mating season. It happened during the fall of 2019 in northeast Utah.
The biologist, tracking sage grouse, captured video of the elk chasing a cow. Unfortunately, it didn’t get enough clearance and tumbled over a barbed wire fence. No worries though, a mere few seconds later, the bull jumped to its feet and continued its pursuit, relatively unscathed.
