To put it simply, it was a dream hunt that just kept on going and giving.
Easton Blackford is a young man who struggles with cerebral palsy. The Outdoor Dream Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the owner of North Carolina-based Dead End Game Calls joined forces to take him on a cross-country big game hunt.
First, Easton shot a whitetail buck from his wheelchair while in Iowa.
Then the team drove 23 hours and more than 1,100 miles to the CB Ranch in western Montana, located about 60 miles south of RMEF headquarters in the foothills above the small town of Darby.
Once in Big Sky Country, Blackford shot both a nice whitetail buck and a 5×5 bull elk.
“God blessed us with an amazing week with Easton,” Mitchell Johnston, owner of Dead End Game Calls, told the Wilks Journal-Patriot.
The Outdoor Dream Foundation offers hunting, fishing and other outdoor opportunities for children with life-threatening illnesses. RMEF teamed up with the foundation a number of times over the years.
