Below is a Facebook post from Sasktip. For 2025, Fiocchi partnered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to increase the visibility of poaching incidents in an effort to reduce poaching.

On September 16, 2025, conservation officers received a TIPP call regarding a bull elk that had been shot and left to waste approximately 10 miles south of Wynyard, SK. The elk was found on Ducks Unlimited lands, but it is believed that it was shot elsewhere and died at this location.

The investigation also revealed that two shots were taken at the elk the previous evening around 8:30 p.m., which is after the legal hunting hours. There was no open season for elk in this area at this time.

A cash reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individual(s) involved. Anyone with information about this violation should contact the Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561 (toll free). Calls are not traced or recorded in any way and callers may remain anonymous.
